Plot To Remove Okorocha: APC Warns Presidency, PDP Against Anarchy In Imo

The purported plot by the Presidency to sack governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha from office through the instrumentality of the Supreme Court, has received widespread criticism from within the state and beyond.


Decrying the alleged gang up against the governor, the Imo State Coordinator of All Progressives Congress (APC), Marshal Okoroafor Anyanwu, warned that the people will resist any attempt from any quarter to derail the state.He stressed that such a plan to return the state to the days of maladministration, corruption and recklessness, after it was beginning to recover, would not only fail but would also demean those behind the plot.

ASUU Strike: Protests Get To The Streets As University Lecturers Sensitise The Public

The face-off between striking university lecturers and the Federal Government took a new twist yesterday, as some lecturers rallied at Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, at Ile-Ife and Osun State University, UNIOSUN, Osogbo, in bids to sensitise members of the public to the union’s demands from the Federal Government and implementation of agreements reached in 2009.While some OAU teachers marched through streets of Ile-Ife, lecturers from Osun State University held their rally at the newly constructed Freedom Square at Old Garage, Osogbo.
The striking lecturers from the two institutions, who condemned the action of the Federal Government for attempting to politicise the demands of ASUU over the agreement reached with the former, held the rallies peacefully and under Police protection.

Monarch Escapes Death As Irate Mob Razes Palace In Osun

The Oloba of Oba-Oke in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Dahunsi Iyiola, Sunday, escaped death by the whiskers, when irate mob from neighbouring community, Oba-Ile, invaded his palace and razed it alongside other buildings in the town.
Sources said the crisis started when the people of Oba-Ile invaded Oba-Oke after the celebration of their annual Oro festival.
“The crisis happened when the Oloba of Oba-Ile, Oba Adebisi Adeeyo was celebrating Oro festival and the youths prevented neighbouring villagers to cross their boundary.”
A fracas ensued between the two communities, during which dangerous weapons like cutlasses, guns and machetes were freely used by both sides, causing injuries of various degrees.

EFCC Set To Probe Stella Oduah’s Armoured Cars Deal



Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah might have bitten more than she can chew, as probe now seems to be flying in from all corners, over the controversial purchase of two bullet-proof cars for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, without necessary approvals.
There was indication yesterday that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, might move in to unravel the untidy deal, which has added to the list of misgivings denting Nigeria’s battered image before the international community.
According to a source at the commission, the agency was under pressure from Nigerians, particularly civil society groups to probe the purchase of the controversial High Security Sedans, HSS.
